What To Write The journal can help you record your expectations of motherhood, your dreams and aspirations for your child, and provide a release of pent up emotions that this new change has brought into your life. This can be your story of your pregnancy. Was it planned, or it just happened – a surprise? When and how did you first realize you were pregnant? Did you find yourself emotionally ready for the impending motherhood? If not, what did you do to prepare yourself emotionally, etc. Your pregnancy journal can be used to record when you first committed yourself to motherhood, when you decided to discontinue birth control pills, and whether you had to seek infertility treatment, etc.
You may not be comfortable writing about a lot of personal things. However, when you first decided to start such a journal, it had to do with things personal. Try not to self-censor, and write whatever comes to your head. Your journal does not have to be smart or funny. It just has to record and document what you are going through emotionally and physically. You can also note down your dreams during this period. Think what would you like to read in your pregnancy journal, say, 15, 20 years down the line. What were your feelings towards your mother, when you first came to know you were pregnant? Your impending motherhood may completely change the way you think of your mother, now that you are on the verge of motherhood. Write a letter to your mother in your journal, expressing your changed feelings.Let your pregnancy journal be your journey down memory lane 20 years hence.
